- Many feel that being motivated means feeling like doing something
- Genuine motivation is not an emotional state, even though you can sometimes feel motivated
- Motivated people perform whether they feel like doing something or not because they are clear about and connected to their reason for doing it
- Motivation is strongest when you connect your goals to your values and have a strong "why"
